Akron Rotary Camp founded in 1924, annually provides children and adults with special needs the opportunity to experience all the friendship, fun, and excitement of camp. The camp offers day, overnight, and respite programs where campers are encouraged to try new leisure activities, experience the natural world, and build memories that will last a lifetime.
We are excited to share our next project to enhance the camping experience for all our campers! The construction of a universal access Adventure Park with dual zip lines. The Park will continue to further Rotary Camp’s Mission of creating a world where there are only abilities by challenging campers’ perceived limitations and showing each individual that they can accomplish whatever he or she puts his or her mind to. Through a series of low and high elements campers of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to face fears, solve problems, and fly free!
Adventure Park will feature six elements, all handicapped accessible – a draw bridge at the start, dual zip canopy sending platform, dual zip lines allowing campers to soar with a buddy, dual zip canopy receiving platform and a bridge landing platform with a sliding board for exiting the park.
Please join us on September 28, 2019 at the 4th Rotary Camp Regatta to help us continue to provide more experiences for children with special needs.
